Serials Codes for Square Bracketed Notes

[Bracketed notes contain information about the location of some titles.]

Code: [CALL NUMBER]

Example: Advances in Nutrition Research [QU 145 A244]

This code indicates that all volumes of the title are shelved under this call number and circulate as books. Some items may be Reference materials (indicated by REF in front of the call number); these items do not circulate.

Code: [CATALOGED SEPARATELY]

Example: Advances in Pain Research and Therapy [Cataloged Separately]

This code indicates that the title is a monographic series. Each volume has a distinctive title and call number. These titles are shelved as books on Floor B and circulate as monographs. To find out the call number for these items, perform a keyword search in the Library's catalog, entering the full title and volume number. These items circulate as books.

Code: [LOCATION]

Example: Byte [Media]

This code indicates that the title is stored somewhere other than the journals shelves. The two possibilities for this code are "REF" - indicating the reference indexes - or "MEDIA" - indicating the Library's Learning Resource Center.

Code: [Electronic Access Available]

Example: Pediatric Research (PRINT: 1967 - 2003) [Electronic Access Available]

This code indicates that the title is no longer available in print after the closing date in parenthesis. However, the title is still available electronically (and is usually listed immediately afterwards).
