Library Information Commons Update

 

  • 8/10/10 - As part of the opening celebration, resource vendors - including Elsevier, Ebsco, Thomson Reuters, and McGraw-Hill - will be presenting available resources and have graciously donated materials for an Opening Day raffle.
  • 8/6/10 - On Wednesday, August 18, the Library will be closed in preparation of the celebration of the opening of the Library Information Commons. After the celebration at about 3:00 pm that afternoon, the Commons becomes open 24 hours. Service desks and the basement and second floors retain normal hours.
  • 7/22/10 - The Opening Day for the Library Information Commons is set for August 18, 2010.
  • 3/16/10 - Demolition in the Library is completed. Construction to renovate the first floor of the Library into the Library Information Commons is expected to continue until early June.
  • 2/25/10 - Beginning Friday, February 26, the first floor of the Library will be closed for an estimated three months. To enter the Library, follow the signs leading to EB55A on the lower level of the Health Science Education Building.
  • 2/19/10 - Service locations are changing as we prepare for the Library Information Commons.  The first floor will close as of the end of business Wednesday, February 24, 2010.  Construction begins March 8 and will continue for approximately 3 months.  There will be intermittent elevated noise.  During this period, users can access the Library through door EB55-A in the basement of the Health Education building (the door near the student lockers). We appreciate your cooperation and support during this exciting transition.
  • 2/11/10 - A kickoff meeting will be held Thursday, February 18 with the architect, contractor, and library staff. A start date for construction will be set at that time.
  • 11/25/09 - Work will continue on the removal of shelving on the first floor on Friday, November 27. Library users should be prepared for extra noise in this area as work is completed.
  • 11/24/09 - On Wednesday, November 25, the carrels and shelving on the first floor of the Library will be removed. Shortly afterwards they will be replaced with tables to restore workspace. Library users should be prepared for extra noise in this area as work is completed.
  • 11/3/09 - On Monday, November 9, the carrels and shelving on the first floor of the Library will be removed. Shortly afterwards they will be replaced with tables to restore workspace. Library users should be prepared for extra noise in this area as work is completed.
  • 10/30/09 - The shelving and carrels on the first floor have been sold. The successful bidder is to remove them by November 19, 2009. When the materials are removed, there will likely be excess noise. We will keep you informed.
  • 9/28/09 - Current Journals have been relocated to Floor 2 of the Library.
  • 9/25/09 - Bid opening for vendors has taken place.
  • 9/21/09 - The Reference Collection has been moved to the Lower Level of the Library.
  •
