About the Alumni Learning Resource Center

The Alumni Learning Resource Center (LRC) supports the computer and audiovisual based educational and training programs at HSCB. Public access is provided to computing resources which include health sciences and curriculum-based courseware, document processing software and printers, Internet and e-mail, and microcomputer training space.

The media collection contains approximately 1800 programs comprised of: audiocassettes, microfiche, slide banks, slide-audio sets, 3/4-inch and VHS videocassettes, laser videodiscs, and CD-ROMs. The media collection is housed in three locations: 1) Programs most frequently used for self-study are on open shelves; 2) Reserves and most-recently acquired programs must
be requested from LRC staff; 3) Remainder of the collection is in special storage and must be requested 24 hours in advance of use. Many computer programs are delivered to personal workstations via the campus network. All media programs are cataloged and are searchable through the online Library Catalog.

To request LRC materials, a barcode - obtained at the Library's Access Services Desk - must be affixed to your valid SUNY-HSCB ID and presented at the LRC Desk. Teaching faculty and staff may borrow (check out) most LRC materials for on-campus use. Students must view media programs in the LRC. When programs are needed for student-led classroom presentations, the class instructor must agree to borrow the material. Permission forms for this purpose
are available at the LRC Desk. The LRC does not make its programs available for home viewing.

For categories of loan periods pertaining to LRC materials, refer to the document on Loan Periods.

All program loans, bookings, and media reserves must be arranged during business hours, M-F, 9am-5pm, in person or by phoning ext. 7423. Telephone bookings require exact title or call number for each program.

Professional staff and full service available: Monday-Saturday, 9-5, Sunday, noon-8.

Evenings and weekends: LRC Desk is staffed by work/study students.
