BOOKS, JOURNALS, & RESERVES
Patrons who are eligible to borrow must present a valid SUNY-Downstate ID at the Access Services Desk to be swiped. This procedure inputs individual patron records into the library's automated system which then maintains an accurate accounting of all current borrowing and related transactions between the patrons and the library.
Books circulate for 3 weeks and may be renewed Only Once for an additional 3 weeks.
Journals circulate for 4 hours only and they must be older than 30 days. Otherwise, they do not circulate. They may not be renewed.
Reserve materials circulate for 2 hours. Reserve materials can NOT be taken from the library. They may not be renewed.
Laptops circulate for 2 hours. Laptops can NOT be taken from the library. They can not be renewed.
LRS materials fall under the following loan periods for patrons with borrowing privileges (faculty and staff).
Students must view media programs in the LRC. Loan policies on AV Reserves and non-circulating programs apply to all LRC users.
METRO-funded videos circulate for a period of 2 weeks and may be renewed.
Training videos circulate for a period of 2 weeks and may be renewed.
All other videos circulate for a period of 2 days and may be renewed.
Slides, audiocassettes, microfiche circulate for a period of 2 days and may be renewed.
Computer software, CD-ROMs, Laserdiscs DO NOT CIRCULATE.
AV Reserve materials may NOT be taken from the library and may be used for a period of no longer than 2 hours. They may not be renewed.
